Shipping for Success Part 1 of 4

When you think of marketing you probably think of brochures, flyers, billboards, ads and annoying pop ups. I mean, all of those things are associated with marketing. However, many businesses think just like you and fail to realize that marketing goes beyond these obvious methods, which is why every day businesses like yours miss out to marketing opportunities to push more sales. Through this four part series we will show you how to make your shipping opportunities into business opportunities to increase your sales and retain as lifelong customers. This will all be done with using shipping as a marketing tool. You may be wondering how this can be accomplished, but after we show you these methods we are sure you will have that “aha” moment that so any other businesses have that have read about these very same strategies.

This biggest opportunity that businesses miss is marketing to their customers that they already used traditional marketing methods to acquire. Yes, we are talking about that customer that just put that order in whom you are shipping that product to. That is the same customer is liked your product enough to buy it that they will be more receptive to any other prospect out there because for some reason you enticed them to pull out their wallet and spend money.

This is a very important aspect for you to understand and which is why these strategies we are going to explain will work. You have to integrate everything we are going to tell you if you want to see an increase in sales and have more repeat customers.

Confirmations Create Opportunities

How many times have you placed an order and receive a generic confirmation that basically told you what you already knew. You purchased such and such product and here is when we think it will arrive. The majority of the time no real thought goes into this as it is a generic message that is generated for the masses. This is your first opportunity to make a difference to your customer.

The first thing you need to do with your confirmations is have a few elements that you always include. The first on being personable with a message that feels customized and prepares the recipient for what comes next as in this example.

Paula,

Your order of your Deluxe Kitchen set is on its way. This order confirmation contains important information such as your tracking number, package insurance and everything else you need to know about your order. We also wanted to let you know that you will be receiving a sales receipt with great product suggestions that will complement your Deluxe Kitchen at a discounted price from our normal retail price since you are a valued customer. Thanks for your order and we look forward to earning more of your business. If you need anything between now and then do not hesitate to call us at the number below or to reach out to us via email.

As you can see this is very short yet powerful. You are addressing the customer in a way that speaks to them by their first name as well as informing them that you will be sending them a special offer for a below normal price since you value them as a customer. In addition to that, you also let them know that they can contact you if they have any questions or need to speak to your company about something.

All of these elements are going to separate you from your competition. You customer will be looking for that e-mail and when they receive it will more than likely be opened. In between that time they will be thinking about that special offer they will be receiving which will generate excitement and buzz around your company. In addition to these elements you also want to add in one last element that will be the final touch to make this confirmation superb. This final touch is something you want to add to every strategy that we give you through this series.

Laws of Attraction

Always make sure that the message is composed with proper grammar as well as it is appealing to the eye. Put in the extra time and effort to make it look pretty, sophisticated, techie or whatever niche you are in. If you are in vertical niches then make sure you have a template for each niche so if someone orders computer parts you have a tech template that would appeal to the tech minded person, while if someone ordered beauty supplies you would have a feminine template that appeals to that industry. This simple step adds memorability to your products, company and brands you even more to your customers.
